Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on July 26, 1962, Robert was the youngest of 5 children of Betty and Neal Ferrell of Dallas. Robert is survived by his brothers Mike Ferrell of Houston, Texas, Ken Ferrell of Weatherford, Texas, his sister Jane Ferrell Miles of Smithville, Missouri, and his sister-in-law Brenda Williams Ferrell of Carrollton, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Don Ferrell.
After receiving a business degree from University of Texas – Dallas, Robert began a career in the restaurant business, rising to various managerial positions with experience. In 2003, Robert got his career break with Love’s Travel Stops. Quickly, he became a Restaurant Manager and then an Area Restaurant Manager, making stops in Aurora, Nebraska, Nashville, Tennessee, Gilbert, Arizona, and finally Norman, Oklahoma in 2010. In 2018, Robert became a Training Manager, leading efforts to focus training curricula on restaurant employees, managers, and Area Restaurant Managers.
Robert was well respected as a firm, but fair manager who mentored many of Love’s restaurant employees and managers. He related easily with his fellow Love’s employees through his approachable and friendly personality.
But it was his kind and gentle nature that will be remembered most. His easy smile and sense of humor exhibited a joyful man who was engaging and easy to talk to.
Robert was a devoted husband who lovingly cared for his wife through their almost 38 years of marriage. They enjoyed travelling together, particularly to the Caribbean. When their travels included family holidays, Robert eagerly wanted to hear the latest from his nieces and nephews. His laughter would fill the room…his presence a blessing.
A visitation is scheduled for Noon on Monday, April 4 at the Primrose Funeral Home at 1109 N. Porter Avenue in Norman. A short service will be held at the same location at 2:00.
