Thomas was born December 7, 1954 in Santa Monica, California to James Joseph and Ruth (Hogan) Yates. He attended schools in Santa Monica
graduating from Venice High School in 1972. He served his country in the United States Marines, following his discharge he continued to live in California and began his career as a brick-tile mason. In approximately 1985 he moved to Norman and continued his career in Masonry, until his health declined.
Survivors include his wife: Judy Yates; daughter: Natasha Yates; son: Travis Yates; grandchildren: Trey Yates, Mikah McPherson, CJ Sperry, Thi Yates, Nae Nae Yates; mother: Ruth and step-father: Chet; siblings: Yvonne, Cherie, Bill and Mike;
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
