Bill was born to Emily Alice (Fincher) and William Self, Sr. on December 17, 1943, in Atoka, Oklahoma. He graduated from Atoka High School in 1961 and began serving our country as a member of the National Guard and, later, the United States Air Force. Following his time in the service, he worked as truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Bill married Barbara Wilkins on October 24, 1966, in Sherman, Texas. Bill’s family brought him great joy, and he loved watching his grandchildren play. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pat Self; his brother, Hubert; his sisters, Jessie, Eleanor, and Margaret; and his daughter, Stacy.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his wife of 50 years, Barbara; sons, Richard Alan and William Lee III; daughters, Hayley Kathleen and Kelsey Lauren and husband Antonio Douglas; grandsons, Richard Emmett and Brandon Paul and wife Jordan Dayle; granddaughters, Chelsea Nicole and Jacqueline Thatcher and her children; and great-grandchildren, Emerie Elaine Davila and Carter Brian Self.
