Nellie Kirik

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nellie Kirik, late of North Battleford on September 20, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Nellie was born on December 5, 1914 at Transcona, Manitoba.

Nellie leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Adrienne Dahlberg of North Battleford; Myrna Coates of North Battleford; Myron (Joy) Kirik of Chestermere, AB; Barry Kirik of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Fred Dahlberg of Vancouver, BC; Laurel (Ian) McConnell of Cochrane, AB; Shelly Coates (Michael Alstad) of Mountlake Terrace, WA; Heather (Sheldon) Sept of Lethbridge, AB; Avery Arlidge of Seattle, WA; great grandchildren: Louis, Eric, and Julian Dahlberg; Matthew McConnell; Darby and Joelle Gantefoer; and Myla Sept; half brother Ed Derenoski, Amhersburg, ON; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Julian; parents Leon and Victoria Derenoski; stepmother Anne Derenoski; brothers Frank Darcy and Robert Darcy; sisters Mary Wirth, Jessie Boyko, and Steffie West; half-siblings Rudolf Derenoski, Violet Harach, and Amy Harrison; granddaughter Gwen Dahlberg; sons in law Owen Dahlberg and Ray Coates.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2 the Chapel of Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home with Reverend Father Val Besas as celebrant. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the City of North Battleford Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the interment service at Killdeer Apartments (2342 Killdeer Dr), Activity Room, Main Floor. The family have requested that in lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations in Nellie’s memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kristeen Nylander of Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home, North Battleford, SK.
