Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife Violet of 53 years and their children: Connie and her children James, Gordon, Brad, and Ashley; Don (Carey) and daughter Shelby; Bonnie (Tim) and children Ty and Bailey; and Allen (Joanne) and children Alyssa, Chloe, Ethan and Zachary; as well as 9 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Bill was predeceased by his mother Reta (nee Waines) in 1982 and his father Tom Lloyd in 1969.
Bill was a very quiet man, known for his kindness, integrity, humility, and self discipline and was loved by all. He dedicated his entire career to his family farm in Eagle Hills which was first established in 1902 by his grandfather W. R. Waines.
In 1929, Reta Waines, daughter of W. R. Waines, met and married Tom Lloyd (a sheepherder who migrated from Wales). Together they took over the Waines farm. In 1931, Bill, their only child, was born.
Through the depression, dirty thirties and two world wars, Reta, Tom and son Bill humbly and methodically built the Lloyd farm. Bill took over the farm in 1959. In 1970 Bill met and married Violet, adopting her 3 children and having another son in 1971.
Bill exemplified the values of hard work and dedication. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an incredible farmer, with records of every animal born, crop sewn, and implement bought or sold—and there wasn’t a single John Deere you couldn’t fix. Bill had an unwavering commitment to the Eagle Hills community where he cherished lifelong friendships.
Dad, we honour your memory by celebrating and retelling your stories and sharing our own, proving you were arguably the best father, farmer, and friend. We are so very grateful, owe you so much and will love and miss you always.
A celebration of life funeral service for William will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Sallows & McDonald - Wilson & Zehner Funeral Home, North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
