Kloster nee Gallop – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Winnifred Lois Kloster late of Speers, SK at the age of 82. Lois was born on May 19, 1928 and grew up on a farm in the Eagle Hills, south of Battleford. She was the youngest child of Irene and Stanley Gallop, and she had four siblings: Hubert, Edmund, Douglas, and Beatrice. She was the “sunshine of her dad’s life”; she adored him completely and followed him everywhere. She attended Red Cross School and later attended BCI. Lois had many talents - she was a builder, designer, knitter, seamstress, teacher, and a poet. Her historical poetry of the Battleford area was well received by historian Campbell Innes who wished to collaborate with her on publishing it before his untimely death in 1961. The family loved her great bread and the jams to go with it. She loved the outdoors and the creatures in it. She was a collector and an artist, her leather work was impeccable and creative. She was a story teller and she was our MOM. The most important thing that we knew about Mom is that she knew that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Saviour, and that some day he would come to take her home. That day was October 17, 2010 at one in the morning.
Lois left behind to cherish her memory her loving children: Margaret Joan (Bob) Brick: Michele (Vince); Eleanor (Harvey) Brown: Craig (Kerrilyn), Angela, Tricia, Kathy (Mike), and Tim (Shari); Kenney (Deb) Stewart: Lincoln (Jeannie), Nicholas, Janine (Mickey), Sean, and T.J.; Stanley (Joyce) Stewart; and Anthony Kloster: Jacob; 18 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Irene and Stanley Gallop; husbands Earl Stewart and Albert Kloster; two children Lois and Louise; siblings Hubert, Edmund, and Douglas Gallop, and Beatrice Bull; one grandson Laurie Leigh.
Memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home, North Battleford, with Reverend Peter Norman officiating. Eulogy was given by Eleanor Brown and one of Lois’ poems was read by Joan Brick. Music ministry was by Verna Olfert as organist, and Harvey Brown as soloist. Urn bearers were Nicholas, Lincoln and Xander Stewart. Memorial Donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited or Oasis Personal Care Home (PO Box 26, Speers, SK, S0M 2V0). Interment took place at the Town of Battleford Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kristeen Nylander of Sallows and McDonald Funeral Home, North Battleford, SK (306) 445-2418.
