Adam C. (A.C.) Brown Jr. was born in Buffalo New York on August 3, 1938 to Adam C. Brown Sr. and Isabelle Brown. He went to Heaven peacefully on September 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 56 years Gerry Brown, brothers: Henry and Robert Brown, sisters: Mary Calkins, and Theresa Toledo, son in law Morey Moeller, granddaughter Laura Moeller. He is survived by his son Jimmy (Shelly) Brown, daughter Linda Moeller, sister Diane (Bob) Drain, grandsons Michael and Christopher Moeller and sister in law Agnes Brown.
A. C. was a very loving man and was always smiling and was liked by everyone that met him. He loved his County and serviced in the Navy for 22 years. While his children were growing up he volunteered as a coach for football, baseball, and softball. He loved working with kids and is still called Coach Brown by some of the kids he taught over 50 years ago.
He received the life-time membership award from the American Legion Post 166 in Goose Creek for all the volunteer work that he did. Some of his volunteering at the Legion included the following: helping to cook Sunday breakfast (where he was known for his odd shaped pancakes), cooking for numerous events and children parties, visiting the VA Hospital to support the sick Veterans, participating in the Flag Disposal Ceremony, placing flags on the graves of Veterans at a local cemetery, helping sponsor WWII Veterans to go to Washington, reading names off the traveling Vietnam Wall, and going to local High Schools to help educate the students about Patriotism. At Christmas time A.C. and Gerry would not exchange gifts between themselves. They would donate the money that they would spend on each other to make sure that local kids would have gifts and a nice meal.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gene Saylors, Erin Lott PA, and Lindsey Vollono PA, and all the nurses at Charleston Oncology for the excellent and compassionate care that they gave him over the past 2 1/2 years. We would also like to thank all the staff from St. Francis Oncology for treating him like he was one of their family members. He really loved all “his girls”. A.C. also enjoyed his daily talks and prayers from Chaplain Leon Maxwell at St. Francis. A.C. was a very giving and sweet man that always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held September 26, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremations, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. A Celebration of Life will follow from 3:00pm to 4:00 pm in the Chapel and the burial will follow at 4:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.carolinamemorial.com for the Brown family.
