

Betty Wilson Alewine, 84, of Summerville, S.C., passed away on June 29, 2015. Betty was born in Bath, S.C. on January 26, 1931, to George and Varina Wilson. Betty married James Alewine on June 30, 1951. They were a day away from 64 years of sharing each other's lives. Betty and James have three children; Donne White, Mike Alewine and Glenn Alewine. To Donne were born the three grandchilren; William, Joye and Matthew White. Betty was one of eight children. She was predeceased by siblings George, Jr., Joe, Jim and Leah Wilson. Surviving siblings are Vera Johnson, Alva Morse and Al Wilson. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Ministries of the church and community were given support wherever Betty lived. She was a choir member, teacher and youth counselor in the churches to which James and she were appointed. When James was appointed to serve beyond the local church, Betty served on boards and committees in churches where she had membership. Locally, she was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Second Chance. Betty was pleased to have been on the board of directors for Kids Care and Meals on Wheels. A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, Summerville, S.C., Spell Chapel, on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. Visitation with the family will take place at 10 a.m. in the church chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends wish to support a ministry in her memory, Meals on Wheels, Summerville, S.C. would be Betty's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Hospice for their compassionate care.
