Betty Sue Buchanan, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away in the early morning of April 20, 2020. She passed peacefully in her sleep, at home, and laying beside her beloved husband of over 65 years, Samuel Morris Buchanan.
She was a native of Ellenboro, North Carolina, who later settled in Jacksonville, Florida to be near her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the adored, respected, and admired matriarch of her family of several generations. She was loved by so many and touched the lives of anyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a Christian woman who endured and overcame more than most would believe possible. Her faith and strength kept her and allowed her to be a blessing to all who knew her for the beautiful 83 years of her life.
She has now gone on to be reunited with her sons James Scott Buchanan, George Keith Buchanan, and Charles Edwin Buchanan, as well as her brother James, her parents, and grandparents in heaven.
She is survived by her husband Samuel Morris Buchanan; Grandchildren Shana, James Daniel, Laura (Jeffrey), and Jarrod (Indi); Great-Grandchildren Karson, Madeline, Graceline, James Kolton, Samuel Leigh, Luna, and Arrow; her sisters Julia and Marjorie; her brothers Russell and David, and many other family and friends who will deeply miss her nurturing spirit, smile, and stunning example of unwavering faith and sense of duty.
With more love and sorrow than can be expressed in words, we say goodbye to our "Baby Doll" and "Granny", but know that we will see her again one sweet day.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 12:30 pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston, SC 29406.
