I have so many fond memories of times spent with Aunt Betty. Whether it was in the kitchen, or crafting at a table, making jewelry, painting or sewing, going to get "culture" as she liked to call it, playing rummy, or just talking, they were special because she was there. I wish everyone could have an Aunt Betty, but alas, there was but one Aunt Betty and she was ours. An intregal part of all her nieces' and nephews' lives. She always knew what was going on in our lives and just the right questions to ask or comments to make. She made each of us feel special. I loved watching her interact with my own children as they were growing up. I'm so honored she was my Aunt Betty and blessed with so many fond memories, she will live forever in my heart...

Artist’s have for millennia been instrumental in bringing people together. Art is said to be a universal language. It’s timeless and evokes a myriad of emotions and feelings that are individual to each beholder. Aunt Betty was an artist. Whether her medium was paint or jewelry or the love for her family, her artistry and memory will live on forever on our walls, around our wrists and especially in our hearts. Her niece, my mother, Joy, most likely was highly influenced by her aunt. Developing a similar relationship with her creative side. Creativity gives the ordinary a spark that allows it to shine. My mother recently shared with me some of the fondest memories in her youth that included this spark which was fostered by her fun and life loving Aunt Betty. I personally remember as a teenager going bead hunting as I believe it was affectionately called. Aunt Betty, her sister who is my grandmother Nita and my mother and me all out shopping at this bead emporium in a part of town that we probably didn’t belong without self defense or bodyguards. But to get to experience Aunt Betty’s creative process and passion for her craft was truly inspiring and something that resonated with me all these years. I don’t personally have many artistic qualities but I do have a deep respect for those who do and who have the courage to let the world see their inner feelings and dreams. My sister and I and our mother and grandparents who couldn’t be here, wish our deepest condolences to the immediate family and friends here today. I’ll end with a couple quotes.

Aunt Betty will truly  be missed . Always  had something  she had painted to give to us when she came to homerville.  I still have the santa we put up every year  by the tree she painted for us. And a lot of cookie jar lids. She was special.

My Sweet Aunt Betty,   Just saying that is an understatement…. She was the most giving and kind hearted person you would ever meet.  Her hugs were always heart felt and she always had a kind word to say.  I’m so very thankful that I had the privilege to call her “Aunt Betty “.  She made the prettiest jewelry, and painted beautifully.  So much talent in those precious hands.   The memories I have going back many years ago and the memories I have of just a few months ago will forever stay dear to my heart.   I love you Aunt Betty!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
