

Relatives and friends of Bobby Steverson are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial with military honors will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service on Thursday.
Bobby was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, on August 28, 1933. He was the son of Spurgeon L. and Bessie Juanita Steverson. His mother later married James L. Lewis; Bobby affectionately called him “Pop”.
Bobby served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an airman first class. Bobby then became a civilian employee at the Charleston Air Force Base, retiring as an aircraft electrician. After retirement, he went to work for Georgia Pacific in Russellville, S.C.
Bobby raised his family in Hanahan, S.C., where he coached Little League football and baseball for many years. He was a volunteer for local American Legion baseball and with Habitat for Humanity in Berkeley County. Besides spending time with family, Bobby enjoyed motorcycles, rebuilding cars, woodworking, waterskiing and camping.
Bobby is survived by his sons, James Robert Steverson (Susan) and Dr. Brian Keith Steverson (Adriane); his daughters, Deborah Steverson Hayden (Mark) and Pamela Steverson Rainwater (Stuart); granddaughters, Dr. Elizabeth Langley Martinez (Rogelio), Caroline Lewis Steverson and Brianne Nicole Haynes (Mason); great-grandchildren, Elena Louise Martinez, Hugo James Martinez and Valeria Mae Martinez; brother, Dr. Roger Stevenson (Leslie); sister-in-law Sandra Steverson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Lewis Steverson; his parents and stepfather; brother Paul Wallace Steverson and sister Joanne Butts.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Bobby’s caregivers in Moncks Corner, Carron, Minnie and Sabrina for their devotion and compassion; sincere appreciation to the staff of Evergreen House, the Village at Summerville, for loving care of Bobby during his last years; and intense gratitude to Will, Marshall, Robin and other staff from Gentiva Hospice for Bobby’s excellent care over the last several years.
