Brian Lee Melling

Brian Lee Melling, 58, of Summerville passed away on January 28, 2015. Brian was born on May 12, 1956 to Merle and Mary Ann Melling in Oakland, CA. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in political science from the College of Charleston in 1978. He was a sports writer for the Post and Courier and was an editor for the Riverside California Newspaper. He was currently employed at Robert Bosch. He loved music, sports and competing in trivia contests. He competed in weekly trivia contests and was a member of the "Writer's Corner" team. Brian is survived by his parents, one daughter, Allison Melling Adams; two grandchildren, Destiny and Julia; four siblings, Kevin Melling (Martha), Julie Cumbee (Jimmy), Greg Melling (Espie), Kelley Smith (Trevor), and a sister-in-law, Pam Melling. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debi Melling and one brother, Mark Melling. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Chapel.
