

Carmen Agustin Malamug, age 83, of Summerville, SC passed away on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025. She was born February 2, 1942 in the Philippines to the late Crispulo Villanueva Agustin and Herminia Domrique Manuel.
A proud retired school teacher, she spent over 30 years shaping young minds, encouraging curiosity, and inspiring countless students to believe in themselves. Her classroom was a place of warmth, patience, and possibility – reflecting the heart she carried into everything she did.
Beyond her career, Carmen was deeply involved in the Filipino Community, where she dedicated countless hours to cultural events and outreach. Her commitment to preserving traditions, fostering unity, and uplifting those around her touched many lives. She was known for her generosity, commitment to the community, and her ability to bring people together with grace and warmth.
She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend whose gentle wit, steady guidance, and open-hearted love will be forever remembered. Her legacy lives on in the people she taught, the community she supported, and the family she cherished.
She is survived by her husband, Cesar Malamug, her two children, Bernadette Malamug van Gessel (Duane van Gessel) of San Antonio, TX and Joseph Malamug of Greenville, SC, who will forever treasure her memory and honor her spirit.
A visitation will be held at Carolina Funeral Home, located at 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston, SC on December 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary taking place at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will take place at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 6650 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC on December 11, 2025 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Carmen will be laid to rest thereafter at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC.
