Carol Rodgers Lewis

Our Mama, Grandma, great-Nana and Aunt Carol of Charleston and Anderson SC, is now resting peacefully in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. Carol passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with her health.

Carol was born to Clarence Rodgers and Inez Johnston Rogers on December 1, 1939 at the Naval Hospital of Charleston, SC.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Clarence Rogers and Olin Rodgers, one sister; Arlene McDougall, brother-in-law, Frank McDougall, and a beloved uncle; SC Senator Olin D. Johnston of Honea Path, SC.

She is survived by her 2 sons; Edward Gene (Barbi) Lewis of Charleston SC, and Mark Detry Lewis of Dorchester SC, one granddaughter; Stacy (Keith) Sprouse of Richmond VA, 3 grandsons; twins, Brandy Lee and Brandon Lee Sanchez of Charleston SC, Vincent Severo Sanchez of Billings MT, 5 great grandchildren, Keith Conrad (Connor) and Holly Marie Sprouse of Richmond VA, Niko Michael Sanchez of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sebastian Severo Sanchez of Charleston SC, and Jude Severo Sanchez of Billings MT.

Our Carol loved her fellowship with her church and Sunday school class. She wore her heart on her sleeve and would help anyone in need. Her passion was taking pictures and making photo albums, along with listening to her friend Peggy’s beautiful voice.

We are so grateful to her many family members, friends and neighbors whom gave her so much love and kindness.

“We have a lot to be thankful for” as she said daily. Rest and rejoice Mama!

Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church in Hanahan, SC.
