Charles was born on December 1, 1955, in Cheraw, South Carolina, to Nell Kinard Giddens and Julian Dixon Walker Jr. He grew up in North Charleston and went on to build a life defined by being a devoted father and grandfather.
Charles proudly served as a firefighter and later retired from the paper mill, careers that meant a great deal to him. He was well known for his ability to make people laugh, his love of having a good time, and his warm, social nature. Charles had a way of making everyone feel welcome, and his kindness and selflessness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
In his free time, Charles enjoyed camping, watching the races and the Carolina Gamecocks, collecting antiques and, most of all, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Family was the most important part of his life, and he cherished every moment with them.
Charles is survived by his children, Misty Walker Feher (Jeremy Feher), Cayce Walker, and Ashley Howe (Jerrett Howe); his beloved grandchildren, Ellisyn, Asher, Bailey, Rylan, Aubrey, Landon, and Cohen; and many, many friends who were like family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nell Kinard Giddens; his father, Julian Dixon Walker Jr.; his brother, Jerry Walker; and his first wife, Terri Hair Walker.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 21, from 1 pm to 3 pm. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Johnny Surratt will be officiating the Celebration of Life Service at 3 pm. in the funeral home chapel. Internment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
His light will continue to shine through all who knew and loved him.
The family requests that you consider organ and blood donation in honor of Charles.
