Clay, aged 71, passed away on 10/19/21 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home, as was his wish.
Clay was born in Charleston, SC on 8/7/50, a son of the late Henry M. Sweatt, Jr. and Mildred Cook Sweatt. He was baptized in The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Washington, D.C in 2007.
For many years he was an auto mechanic manager and previously owned his own business in Virginia. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran, who after a short period out of service, re-enlisted back in the US Army for a second time.
Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Tamara Sweatt, his son, Michael Sweatt (Jamie), his sister, Lisa Curry (Kevin), a brother, Kevin Sweatt, grandchildren Justin, Isaiah, Ethan and Hailey. In addition, he has two great grandsons, Braylen and Ezekiel and another great grandson due in January 2022. He is also survived by one nephew, Kyle, step-sons Yura (Olesya), Denis (Marina) and grand children, Nikita, Alexander & Dasha and dear friend of many years, Steve Cadle.
Family and friends will gather at a later date for a celebration of life.
