Donna was born in 1939, daughter of Edward Oren Bassler and Bertha Mildred Bassler. She spent her childhood and high school years in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, and later graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing, after which she joined the Air Force. As a nurse and lieutenant, later first lieutenant, Donna met her husband, George Dexter Myers, a helicopter pilot with the
Air Force, while they were both stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB. They married in 1962, raised their family in Ohio, New York and Connecticut, and later moved to St. James, North Carolina and then to Charleston, South Carolina.
Throughout, Donna was a caring nurse, volunteer, tennis and golf player, traveler, mother and grandmother. Later in life she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Sacred Heart University and became a pilot herself.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Doris Eckman and Erdene Penrod. She is survived by her loving husband, her son, Michael Myers and wife, Nancy, her daughter, Susan Myers Woods and husband, Clifford, and their children, Donna’s grandchildren, Connor and Kevin Woods.
