Edward Edgar White, 81, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025.
Born on August 24, 1943, Edward dedicated his life to service, both to his country and his community. Edward graduated in 1963 from Murray Vocational High School in Charleston, SC. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he later retired from the Civil Service after a long and honorable career at Charleston Naval Hospital.
Edward’s passions in life were as rich and varied as his character. He was an avid sports fan, a skilled cross-stitcher, and enjoyed card games and fishing. His commitment to community was unwavering—he spent many years as an umpire for youth and adult softball leagues throughout the Charleston area and served as a dedicated coach for the Super Bantam football team at St. Andrews Parks and Playgrounds, impacting countless young lives along the way.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Veronica (Bootie) White; his daughter, Andrea Skipper (Kenny); his son, Edward White Jr. and his cherished grandchildren, Drew Skipper and Katie Skipper. Edward is also survived by his sister, Lillian DeJesus; his brother, Albert Martin; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Della Beckett, and his father, Willis Edgar White, as well as his brothers Roy Connolly and James Martin.
Edward will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, sense of humor and steadfast dedication to family, service and community.
Services will be held Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Visitation will be from 3:00PM to 4:00PM with a service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward’s memory can be made to North Charleston United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
