Emma Hopper Dougherty

Emma Margaret Kummerfeldt Hopper Dougherty, the mother of Melvin Joseph Hopper passed away January 21st at 11:55 PM at home. She was born March 18, 1927 in Carlstadt, New Jersey. She was the daughter of (deceased) Hans Kummerfeldt and Hilda Kummerfeldt of Warwick New York. She retired from Nabisco. She moved to Florida in in 1975 and then to Hanahan, SC in 1993. There will be a memorial service at Highland Park Baptist Church. The address is 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan, South Carolina 29410. Mrs Emma leaves behind one son, (Mel Hopper) of Hanahan and daughter-in-law, Bess. Two grandchildren, Kimberly Hopper Stoner, and Joel Stoner. Two great grandchildren, Trey Christopher Stoner, and Maryellen Knight Stoner and Jenna Lynn Stoner Nakasuji, and Todd Nakasuji. Two Great Great Grandchildren, Noah Christopher Stoner and Emily Anne Stoner. She also left behind her pet, Chance. She has a sister-in-law Lillian Kummerfeldt of Pa. and a brother-in-law, Donald Walker, of New York and lots of nieces and nephews that will miss her very much. Michael Joseph Hopper (deceased). She had two brothers and three sisters (deceased). She loved everyone and had such a great love for the Hamilton family. They were her family and we want to say Thank you Lauren, Chris for letting her care for your two daughters, Audrey and Abigail. They were her pride and joy. They were loved by her just as a Memaw would love her own grands. They were her Granddaughters. She loved Dr. Lauren’s parents also. We want to thank her niece Nancy for helping her and all her other nieces and nephews. She will see everyone again one day. Pastor Josh Driscoll will be doing the service. We want to thank Pruitt Hospice of Charleston for taking such good care of her at home. Mom called her granddaughter, Kimberly her HELPER. That you Kimberly for all your hard work helping our mom, your grandmother so much. Thanks to her friends , neighbors and family for your help, love and being her special friend. There will be a memorial service at Highland Park Baptist Church. The address is 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan, South Carolina 29410. The family will be there at 2:00 and everyone is invited to come and chat with the family before the service. The service will start at 3:00 PM Saturday January 28, 2023.
