
Henrietta (Harriet) Wells Lott, 84, wife of Dennis Allen Lott, Jr. of Goose Creek, went to her eternal home on Tuesday, February 17th at her residence surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Lott was born in Claxton, Georgia on October 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Henry Wells and Lilla Lynn Wells. She graduated from Claxton High School in Claxton, Ga. After her graduation from high school, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company. Harriet was a devoted Navy wife for 26 years after which the family made their permanent home in Charleston. She was the pastor’s secretary for many years at Charleston Heights Baptist Church before becoming the bookkeeper at Garrett High School. Mama Lott was a loving, caring friend and mentor to all who crossed her path. She loved the many years she spent at Garrett High School with her “kids”. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Allen; a son, Dennis Lott (Patsy) of Goose Creek and a daughter, Sherryl Lynch (Danny) of Carrollton, Va.; five grandchildren: Whitney Clayton, Lindsay Clever (Michael), Brittany Kirkpatrick (Richard), Daniel Lynch (Caroline), and Lainey Oden (Joseph); two great-granddaughters, Macie Clever and Mary-Allen Oden and a great-grandson Daniel Oden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Harriet was predeceased by a son Richard Wayne Lott and three sisters, Evelyn Burnham, Edna Roy, and Dixie Wilson. The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Charleston especially, Scott, Penny, Pam, Nicole, and Sherry. A heartfelt thank you also goes to caregivers, Christine, Shirley, and Lani. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
