

Iris (Dee) Sellers Morton of North Charleston, SC and more recently of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Trident Medical Center, with family at her side. She will be sadly missed, but the family is rejoicing to know that she is in the presence of Jesus.
Dee was the fourteenth of sixteen children born to Cora Oliver Sellers and Thomas Sinclair Sellers in Chesterfield, SC, on October 16, 1929. After she graduated from high school, Dee and one of her sisters moved to Charleston. There, she met her lifelong sweetheart, Samuel Thomas Morton, Sr., and they were married on April 12, 1952, until his death in 2010, close to 58 years.
Dee worked at the Medical University of SC in Charleston, SC for 25 years. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, and taught the two year old Sunday School class for 45 years. Recently, she joined Old Fort Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Dee and Tom enjoyed hobbies together including gardening, canning fruits, vegetables, preserves, and pickles, cooking, traveling, taking trips with the Westvaco Credit Union, and family life. Dee enjoyed reading very much all of her life, and her favorite authors in her later years were Billy Graham and Max Lucado. Dee loved her family dearly, and they loved her just as much in return.
Dee is survived by one brother, Alfred Smith Sellers of Chesterfield, SC, two sisters, Frances Sellers Jenkins of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin and Shirley Sellers Parker of Aiken, SC, and a sister-in-law, Thelma Morton Hamilton of Lynchburg, Virginia. She is survived by three children, Tara Morton Fry and husband Paul Barry Fry of Summerville, SC, Samuel Thomas “Buck” Morton and wife Deborah Morton of Goose Creek, SC, and Robin Morton Foy and husband David E. Foy of Goldsboro, NC; and four grandchildren, Jason Paul Fry and wife Kristin Willing Fry of Summerville, SC, Marcus Adam Morton and wife Bonnie Morton of Goose Creek, SC, Jeanna Leigh Hastie of Raleigh, NC, and Jamie Hastie and husband Yelverton and husband Jordan Shea Yelverton of Holly Springs, NC; and six great grandchildren, Paige Morton, Makayla Morton, William Crisp, Taylor Crisp, Sutton Paul Fry, and Sawyer Grey Fry. Dee also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service following on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 12:00 pm (noon) at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, SC, with the burial following in Carolina Memorial Park.
