Jennifer Smoak Fanning

Jennifer was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 16, 1954, and was a graduate of North Charleston High School. Jennifer was a loving Wife, Mother, Mimi, Sister, and a Friend to anyone she ever met. She was the light and the laughter in any room and was loved dearly. A resident of Goose Creek, Jennifer was a Design Flooring Specialist at Fanning Floor Covering by Design Elements, a company she owned with her husband, Horace L. Fanning of thirty-three years, and her daughter Karrie Britton Ledford. She was a talented designer and a loving contributor to Charleston Southern University. She is preceded in death by her mother Lola Eugenia Smoak, her father Winston S. Smoak, her sister Lola Gene Smoak, and her brother Myron Smoak.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Horace (H.L.) Fanning, Daughters Penny Fanning of Daniel Island, Karrie Britton (Scott Ledford) of Park Circle, Kasey Patillo (Ned Patillo) of Summerville, Son Dusting Fanning (Kelly Fanning) of Columbia, SC. Her sister, Janice Godwin (Paul Godwin), and her brother Ken Smoak (Lyzette Smoak), seven beautiful grandchildren, Meaggan, Agnes, Kelsay, Devlin, Billie, Anastyn, Emerson, sister in law Louise Taylor (Edward Taylor) and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Jennifer loved shopping and traveling with her husband, H.L., the love of her life. She was the greatest wife, mother, friend, and sister, and will be dearly missed by so many. Heaven has gained a very special angel.

A Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. Jennifer’s Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
