Julia was born on June 24, 1926 in Walterboro, South Carolina to Charles and Provie Thomas. She was one of 10 children.
Julia enjoyed writing poetry and songs. She published several books. Many of her poems are about her love of her children and grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband and son Andrew George Hasell Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Haselden, wife of George (Buddy) Haselden of Charleston and three grandchildren, Julie H. Smith and husband Craig Smith of Napier, New Zealand, Ashley and her husband James Maveety of Fairview, North Carolina, and Leeann Haselden of Charleston, South Carolina. She has five great-grandchildren Bailey, Kayla, Phalen Smith and Justin, and Robert Maveety.
Funeral services, to honor Julia, will be held on Thursday October 24th, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation. Proceeding the funeral, will be family visitation at 12.
Interment will follow the funeral at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation.
