Karl Edward Johnston

Karl E. Johnston , 88, of Ladson SC entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born in Aulander NC to the late Nathaniel and Velma Johnston. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and Bar-B-Qing.

Karl served his country in the United States Army Infantry in Europe during World War II. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Europe, Asia, and the Unites States. He worked on a variety of aircraft including the F51 Mustang, F86 Sabre, F4 Phantom, and F100 Super Sabre.

Karl is survived by his wife of 59 years: Joan Johnston of Ladson SC; sons: Joe Johnston (Young-in) of Waynesville NC, Mark Johnston (Tammy) of Miami Springs FL, and James Johnston of Ladson SC; grandchildren: Matthew, Mark, and Michael; sisters: Dorothy McKay, and Sandra O’Connor. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12 2015 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12 2015 at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
