
Marina was born on February 28, 1927 to Dolores Aurora Santiago and Cecilio Soto Rivera in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Soon after, she graduated from high school and she married a handsome Army Soldier, Alfonso Vazquez Vera. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed a daughter and two sons: their daughter, Nelly in 1949; their son Luis in 1950, and the youngest son, in 1952, Victor.
Mamita is survived by: her daughter; Nelly and husband Martin Thomas Rasberry, of Folly Beach, SC; her son Luis and wife Blanca Lydia Vazquez, of Folly Beach, SC; her three grandchildren: Adilen and husband Kevin Mead of Las Vegas, NV, Yan and wife Victoria Vazquez, and Noel and wife Lindelia Vazquez of James Island, SC; as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Gweneth, Ethan, Cash, Lydia, Yan David, and Annabella.
Mamita dedicated her life supporting her husband and raising a strong, close and loving family. Her exceptional loving care to all of us was her most noticeable trait and will forever be missed. Mamita loved her family dearly. Her children were the light of her life and her relationship with her grandchildren was special. She was an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Through her well lived 98 years, Mamita touched the lives of many people. She will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
