A finer mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, or wife you will never find. Faye was born eighty-six years ago in Florence, South Carolina, but grew up in North Charleston and attended Chicora High School. She married Harold and for sixty-nine years together they raised their family in South Carolina. Faye was a devoted and loving stay-at-home mom to seven children. She was very involved in their activities, fund-raising efforts for their schools, even serving on the PTA and especially in her boy’s baseball teams. She was always in the stands – only missed 1 game in over 10 years. She made their friends and teammates feel like family and most of them called her “Mrs. C” or Momma C. She loved the ballpark so much; she worked the concession stand at Felkel Field Sports Complex and Dennis Field for many years. Some even say she made THE BEST french fries in all the park. Her greatest joy was nurturing her family and friends with her incredible cooking and boy oh boy did she make the best fried chicken and corn fritters! The only thing she liked better is Clemson football. Always making a pot of chili for good luck every Saturday from September to November. A special heartfelt message to her caretaker and son and our sweet brother, Donald for giving his Momma such unwavering love and care over the last few years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Albert who was her best friend; her step-brother Mike; and her parents, Albert Carlton Wilder and Mary Wanna Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Harold, and their big beautiful family: Daughters Sherran (Michael) of South Carolina, Donna (Roger) of Georgia, Gina (Demetrius) of Georgia and her sons Harold Jr. (Darlene) of Georgia, Steven (Vanessa) of South Carolina, Donald of South Carolina, Tony (Debbie) of South Carolina, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Faye will be laid to rest at Carolina Funeral Home and Gardens in North Charleston, South Carolina at 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406 on Friday, January 10, 2025. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 pm and internment at 2:00 pm. Flowers will be accepted, but if you wish to make a donation in Faye’s honor instead, please consider the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
