

Dr. Anis Makarem passed away on June 11, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Ras El Matn, Lebanon, one of 7 children, Anis moved to the States in the ‘50s. He earned his PhD in biochemistry at UC San Francisco, started a family, opened a medical laboratory and stayed in Los Angeles for the rest of his life. Anis will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, and enthusiasm for life. As a father, grandfather, husband, uncle and friend to so many, he brought joy to everyone. His generosity to his family and community has left a lasting impression on so many lives. May the memories he created with his family and friends live on as a legacy that never fades.
