I have many fond memories of Tiyo Pacin. I could still remember those times when he would come visit us in Mabolo and bringing all the yummy sweet potato, cassava, kardaba, etc.  and we would feast on them. Another fond memory is when Mama Femia and i would go to Camotes during summer vacation and Tiyo Pacin would give us a ride going to Poro or Tudela.  I also could not forget graduation and fiesta days when he would sponsor a table and we, the younger kids, would hide and take a peak at the people sitting near the sponsored tables or people dancing. I will surely miss Tiyo Pacin. He was truly one of a kind. I will always be grateful for all the care, love, kindness and generosity that he showed and shared with us. His silent demeanor and one in a million smile will forever be cherished. I love you Tiyo Pacin. Hug  Mama, Papa ,Topoy, Tatay Cary and Lola for me. Enjoy your reunion with your siblings and parents.  Bye for now. Till we meet again.

Baba, thank you for all the guidance and advice you gave. Taking care of you when you were hospitalized will never be enough compared to how much you've done to take care of me and my family. We love you so much, Baba. Seeing you go through all of that was very hard for all of us but you soldiered on. Even on your most difficult days you still were the strongest and most resilient in our family. Have eternal rest in His arms. Continue to watch over our family. You will forever be in our hearts, Baba. I love you, Tatay.

Dear Baba,

I thank you for caring for me during my childhood, I sincerely apologize for being a troublesome child then. But I still remember that one time when I came home from school and we were eating lunch. I remembered something from school and started laughing, a few seconds had already passed yet I was still laughing, and before I knew it he had already joined me and the both of us were laughing hysterically.  I treasure that moment because it was one of the rare times I got to see him laugh for a long time, and I had felt that I had accomplished something when I made my stoic grandfather laugh. My grandfather wasn't very expressive, he only showed that he cared through his actions and covered words, he didn't say things directly and me being a child didn't get much of it. But now that I have grown and have thought about all the things he said and did, I understood it. I can say that I am very lucky to have him as my grandfather, and I hope he rests well. Rest in peace baba, I love you.

Although I have a few memories with you, you were a very loving person. I remember a memory where I played Happy Birthday on the saxophone. Even though I was a beginner and played horribly, you smiled your usual smile,     a-gik-ik smile, and said nothing.

Although I don't know much about Baba other than he had lots of chickens in the Phillippines and went to Alaska, I still remember the time I had spend with him when I was in the Philippines and in LA.

I didn’t know baba as well as others have. I only came to know him sporadically throughout my life when he would come back for a visit from the Philippines, or one time when we flew home to see family. However, if it’s any indication of how resilient and hardworking all of his children are, it’s that he was a person worth knowing about. I remember a funny memory, one time, when I was in 3rd grade. I had just gotten dropped off to the house by my friend’s mom, no one was at the house except for baba, and I didn’t have a key. It was embarrassing for me to wait outside; having them wait for someone to open the door for me. So, I did what any young person who watched a lot of YouTube videos would do at the time—I attempted to pick the lock with a paper clip in my pocket. Minutes of trying and I thought I had figured it out, jumped in joy and awe, only to realize that baba had been watching me the whole time from the kitchen window and opened the door for me then. He laughed as soon as I got inside, I was embarrassed but it’s something I’ll never forget. Thank you for all of the warm memories I was able to grasp throughout my childhood. Rest easy, rest in power and look over us with your loving grace and beautiful spirit. 🕊

I remember your yearly visits to our house throughout my childhood. My room would temporarily become yours, the sala a regular movie theater featuring action movies and Jackie Chang. During the day we could find you sat quietly in the armchair, and at night, eating a plate of rice and fish for dinner before you'd turn in for bed.

Memories of you like these, though seemingly small, are ones I treasure dearly. Baba, I now realize the greatness in the simplicity of your company and routine. You have gone to rest in eternal peace with God in heaven, but your presence in our lives is everlasting; you will forever be in our hearts and minds.

I am forever grateful to you and your family for letting us stay in your house in Potat, Poro, Cebu for FREE including, our meals and water consumption. 
My most unforgettable recollection of you was that you never went out of the house with messy hair. "An hinapay nimo permi pelit sa pamada amo nga dili gazud magkaspag imo buhok bisan hanginon pa. (hahaha) Bisan gikan pikaw sa igbaw, damoy da nga saging humpid gihapon an imo buhok nasin limpyo an imo nawong wa gazud magkadusingot. Nasin an dili lat nakon mahikalimtan nimo kay magpakaon gikaw dili ka mosugot namon nga mangadto kami sa school nga dili kami makakaon. Baba, I’ve heard many stories about you. About how much you cared about me, looking over me when I was a baby as I ran around the house.  There was a barrier between you and me, unable to communicate through verbal language. Nonetheless I was sure we enjoyed each other’s company. Through the days I’ve watched you in your last moments, I was happy to at least hold your hand before your eternal rest in heaven. Thank you for the life you’ve given, the family that was made today, love you forever. 

Dear Tatay Pacin, you will be forever in my heart. I am so grateful that you were able to meet your youngest grandson, my son, (Isaac), Alex, and his parents. 

Salamat kaayo, Tay, sa imo manga pag sacrificio para ang imo pamilya dili mag lisod. I will forever cherrish my childhood with you. I remember being so happy when I heard  the sound of your motorcycle from a distance knowing that you were finally home from your busy day. I remember greeting you with a big hug each time. I remember the times where I was always getting in trouble, you never really punished me, you did scold me, but you guided me, explained why, what I did was wrong, and made me do the right thing. By the way, Tay, I don't know  if you believed me when I told you this, but the person who broke the glass window in the living room sa Potat was not me! It was one of my neighborhood friends. I'm not sure if you really believed me when I told you this before. We were both climbing on the windows, but I was not the one who broke the glass. Tinuod jud ni, Tay! I remember hiding under your bed after the incident thinking that you would NOT find me there when you got home. A perfect place to hide in the mind of a 4 year old! 

Tatay, you were a fighter even through your last days. Your mind was still strong, but your body could no longer hang on to sustain life. You are now with God and reunited with your Nanay and Tatay, siblings, in-laws, and your beloved granddaughter, Desiree. You were a gracious and generous man, a fighter, a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. 

Tatay Pacin, you will be forever in our hearts. We will always love you. I can't believe you are no longer here with us, but it brings me comfort to know that you are no longer suffering and you are no longer tired. Tay, you are now at peace in the hands of God.

I have no Idea where to start. 
By the way, I am a duaghter of Marcela Gutierrez Dalumpines Cayadong and Teofilo Cayadong and grand daughter of your sister Maxima Borlasa Dalumpines Gutierrez. 

Right now, residing here at Chicago Illinois USA. I just want to say thank for everything you've done to me for sending me to college to support my studies. 

I remeber, every morning before i'm going to school you were outside feeding your cock fighting din pag mo lakaw nako mananghid ko nimo mo ingun dayon ka nga amping ug ayaw pag uyab uyab focus sa imo pag skwela. But, Lolo i'm very sorry for not comply my promised to finish my study in college I was still young and was weak.

I really admired you Lolo of how you educate your kids and your grandchildrens.
I know, nga kauban namo sa imo mga egsoon ug inyo mga ginikanan. We love you Lolo Pacin and "Rest in Peace".

One of the many things I admire about you was that you were always so sure of yourself. You were never not prepared. That's what I always saw in you when I was growing up.

I don't really know what to say. It was so hard to accept that our Baba is no longer with us. It still is. But we can't be selfish knowing how hard you fought. You braved through everything, endured the unimaginable and came out strong.

Speaking in behalf of my siblings and our Dad, I want to say how grateful we are that we were with you through every step of the way. It was hard on all of us but we'd always make sure you were comfortable and getting the best possible care there is to offer.

You were always known to be strict and very frugal. But when it comes to your family, especially your grandchildren, you were always the first one to offer. You were always all for your family. 

You were always so proud of your apo's. You'd say "Akong mga apo sa LA, mga maayo kaayo to mangduwa ug baseball oy. Di to ma basta-basta." You were disoriented when Auntie Janet called and she showed you her kids and you said you don't even recognize them anymore because they grew up so fast. You'd say my sister is good in" analytics" and then you'd laugh like it was an inside joke. You say that you hope to love long enough to see my brother graduate college. He's graduating soon, Baba, and we still hope you'd be there. And, you said you hoped that I could take care of you when you get sick. I did, Baba. Of course I did. I always would.

I regret only getting to spend time with you and getting to know you better when you got sick. I finally got to understand your sense of humor.

I will never forget your courage, Baba. I will never forget your humility. I will never forget your "I love you todo todo" and I will never forget everything you taught me. 

We will never ever forget you, Baba. You can go home to your Nanay and Tatay now. Dugay ra ka nila gitawag. We love you todo todo.

Dear Tiyo Pacin
I met you many times when I was little but one of the best was together with my own family. They we're so impressed of your feathered pets they haven't seen so many at the same time.  And the choir they create every day,  was just a normal day in the island. When papa died you welcomed me and my big sister when we visited his house for cleaning.  You took care of us, shared stories about you and your children, their achivements in life. You're so proud you told us with a smile. You were quick and healthy then. I will remember you that way. Now you're together with your parents and sibblings. No more pain and sickness. No more worries. Rest in peace with the Lord, he forgives. Amen.
