AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Reuben McGee Taylor

6 février 1929 – 11 octobre 2023
Avis de décès de Reuben McGee Taylor
AUX SOINS DE

Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park and Mortuary

REUBEN M TAYLOR, age 94 years, of Pacoima, California died on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Noho Assistant Living in North Hollywood, California.

Reuben was born on February 6, 1929 in Fallston, Maryland; he was a son of the late Ervin R. Taylor, Sr. and Stella Jones Taylor.

For over 25 years, Reuben was a Maintenance Engineer at Owens Illinois Glass Company in Los Angeles, CA.

He also served as an Assisting Minister at Bethel Assembly of God in San Fernando, CA, until he moved to Noho Assisted Living, North Hollywood, CA, in 2021 at the age of 92. His service at the church included teaching Sunday School, assisting Pastor Philip Bigler, hospital visitations, convalescent ministry, leading worship, etc. His greatest joy was serving God, and others.

He began his pastoral ministry after graduating from LIFE Bible College (now known as LIFE Pacific University) in Los Angeles, CA. He and his wife Janet pastored Foursquare churches in Waynesboro, VA; Grottoes, VA; Macon, GA; Cleveland, MS; and Stamford, TX from 1954 to 1972 when they moved to Baldwin Park, CA. He also was an assisting minister in Wichita Falls, TX, Baldwin Park, CA, and Covina, CA.

Reuben asked God to give him wit, and a witty character he was! He loved to tease, make up songs, preach, sing, yodel, and enjoyed stopping a complete stranger to joke with them.

If asked his age, he would tell you, “For a young fella, the Lord has been very, very good to me and has blessed me these 94 years.” His faith sustained him to the very end.

He is survived by his wife Janet L. Taylor, and seven children (4 daughters, 3 sons): Debby Taylor, Becky (Karen) Kozowski (Mike), Jackie Whitsett (Stewart), James Taylor (Pat), J.D. Taylor (Karen), Reba Taylor, and Chris Taylor.

Grandchildren: Kim Ketcher, Josh Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Eric Taylor, Ginger Taylor, David Whitsett, Ben Whitsett (Sterling), Kelsey Whitsett Buckman (Charles), Jesse Whitsett, Alyssa Kozowski, Katie Kozowski Banks (Kevin), Adrian Taylor Wood (Weston), Jordan Brockelman, Sydnie Taylor, and Byllea Taylor.

Great Grandchildren: Jace McLeod, Summer Taylor, Baylee Taylor Thompson, Weston Arick Taylor Wood, and Weslyn Annette Taylor Wood, and Emrick Leo Whitsett Buckman.

A sister, Gladys I. Jones of Delta, Pennsylvania.

A brother, David K. Taylor (Velma) of Whiteford, Maryland.

And, many, many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Nellie V. Herring, Elizabeth L. Trimble, James E. Taylor, Ervin R. Taylor, Jr., and Mildred M. Rockey.

There will be no funeral service per Reuben’s request.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any cancer society of choice.
