October 3, 1947 – November 21, 2025Teresa Cecelia Alanya Morgan, beloved wife, mother, Mima, and friend, passed away peacefully in Burbank, California on November 21, 2025, after a short and courageous battle with liver cancer. She was 78 years old.
Born on October 3, 1947, in Lima, Peru. Teresa, affectionately known as Cecy to her childhood family grew up in the Mira Flores district. She was the third of seven children. At just 17, after graduating in the summer of 1965, she made the bold decision to move to the United States on her own. She arrived in Los Angeles with determination, resourcefulness, and an unwavering work ethic.
She trained as a data processor, worked in the fashion district, and supported herself as she built a new life. In time, the rest of her family joined her in the U.S., following the path she bravely set in motion.
Teresa was a devoted and hardworking mother. In 1969 she married Kris Karabuykov and welcomed her children Michael and Sescie. Though the marriage was brief, it brought her what mattered most to her, her children. In 1975, as a single mother, she purchased her home in Elysian Park, an achievement that reflected her independence and fierce commitment to providing for her children. Around 1977, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith remained a meaningful part of her life.
She married Paul Berg in 1982, sharing many years together until his passing in 1998.
In March 2003, she married William “Bill” Morgan after she asked him to dance at a church dance. Together they created a blended family of five children and thirteen grandchildren. To them, she was Mima, a title she cherished deeply. Mima delighted in participating in their lives, celebrating their accomplishments and nurturing close, loving relationships with each grandchild.
Teresa had an extraordinary spirit of creativity, resourcefulness, and self-reliance. She was known for her do-it-yourself approach and her willingness to learn anything she needed to make her home and surroundings exactly how she envisioned them. Whether tiling the backyard pool at her Valley Glen house, laying brick in the driveway and building/designing their Burbank home, reupholstering furniture, or adding glass blocks to brighten a family room, she approached every project with determination and ingenuity.
Her talents were many: sewing and tailoring clothing to fit her petite stature, crocheting, knitting, cooking, jewelry making, and tackling home improvement projects that most people would never attempt. She traveled all over the world, embracing new places, cultures, and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm. She maintained strong connections with family and friends in Peru and embraced her faith. Above all, she valued hard work, independence, and the enduring strength of family.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Bill Morgan; her children Michael (Stacy) Karabuykov; Sescie (Britt) Johnson, Jennifer (Scott) Morgan Smith, Melissa (Boyd) Christensen, and Matthew Morgan; her 13 grandchildren and many relatives and friends who will forever remember her humor, strength, creativity, and the love she shared so generously.
Services will be held on Friday December 19th at 11:00am with viewing or visiting with family at 9:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 136 North Sunset Canyon Drive Burbank, CA. Burial at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills at 1:30pm.
In celebration of her life, please wear color to the funeral services.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
