Agnes Faye Yapp-Miller, 81, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on August 23, 2024, following a brief hospitalization. Agnes was Born on May 10, 1943, in St. James, Jamaica. She was the first of ten children of Johnson and Micilene (Miss Joyce) Yapp.
Agnes was a trailblazer in our family, becoming the first to work as a clerk at FW Woolworth & Co in Montego Bay, the first to move to New York USA, and the first to drive a car—often humorously with two pillows to accommodate her petite stature. Her career as a bookkeeper at Petree Stores Inc. in New Jersey culminated in her retirement in 1999, after which she and her late husband, Derval Miller, moved to Ft. Lauderdale.
Agnes’s deep passion for sewing and crochet was nurtured alongside her late sisters Olive and Pansy. Renowned for her exquisite bridal gowns, Agnes' artistry shone through in her use of hand beaded work, embroidery, and intricate lace designs, earning her recognition among New York's Chicest brides!!
Beyond her craft, she cherished her time with her local Ft Lauderdale Senior Citizen group, creating crochet blankets for the community, cooking, baking, and enjoying fellowship at Worship Temple Center Miami, where she was honored with the title of motherhood.
