Born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 15, 1940, Allen enlisted in the US Army at the young age of 18 soon after marrying Deborah Kleinman of Monticello, NY. After his time in the service, he spent several years in Brooklyn designing and selling stereo cabinets. The family moved to Long Island in 1970 where Allen co-founded and operated an optical business. He then moved to Florida and worked as both an insurance agent and real estate agent in Coral Springs along with business partner, love, and life partner, Marilyn.
Allen loved traveling, playing cards, volunteering at Coral Springs Center for the Arts and cherishing time with his grandchildren.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie and his brother, Morty. He is survived by his beloved partner of 36 years, Marilyn Wechsler, his children, Tina Nierenberg and husband Cary of Tamarac, FL, Stuart Rosenthal and wife Jean of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and Corey Vickery of Monticello, MN in addition to his 3 stepchildren, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Allen will be remembered for his smile, love of a good deal and his sense of humor. His wisdom was a gift to everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Honor Flight South Florida. Allen was grateful to be accompanied by his stepdaughter, Andrea, on one of these flights last summer.
