

Don was born on May 24, 1935 to Albert Mandell and Faye (Eskin) Mandell in Queens, New York. After graduating from Forrest Hills High School, he went on to study accounting at The City College of the State of New York.
When he graduated, he sat for and passed the CPA exam in the fall of 1961 and was a practicing CPA for over 40 years. He was a soldier in the US Army Reserves during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1964. In the 1970s, he was the comptroller at Golodetz Trading Company.
In the 1980s, he was the vice chairman of the New York Holiday Project where he donated his time, money, and resources to those in need.
After retiring in 2004, he spent his time golfing, collecting art, spending time with his family, and eating at his favorite restaurants around town. He served as Treasurer of his condo building and he volunteered his time as a CPA part time. He also was a donor to the Shrinners Children’s Cancer Hospital and other causes dear to his heart.
Don was predeceased by his parents and his sister Gayle. He is survived by his son Jeffrey and his wife Sally of Boynton Beach, his son Marc and his wife Susan of Jacksonville, and his daughter Ilene and her husband Rich of Atlanta. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Aaron, Michael, Alyson, Garrett, Presley, and Evangeline.
There will be a funeral service held at Star of David Memorial Gardens at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, Florida 33068.
