

Estelle Rochelle Levine, 89, of Lake Worth, Florida passed away on May 12, 2012. Estelle was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Jacob (Jack) and Mae Dobrow and was formerly married to Edward H. Gruber of Newark, New Jersey and Irving Marcus, of Short Hills, New Jersey. Estelle was a graduate of Passaic Senior High School and majored in Psychology at New York University. Her life of service began in Passaic during World War II where she served as President of the Beth Israel Hospital Volunteers and President of the YM-YWHA Women’s Club, along with volunteering with the Veterans hospitals in the area and the USO. She served as President of the Betty Chodakowsky Memorial and Rae Paskow Chapters of Deborah Hospital Foundation and President of the Geula/Boca Raton Aviva Chapter of Hadassah. She was a member of Congregation Beth El of Boca Raton and Congregation Emanu-El of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Estelle is survived by her husband Marvin, son Philip and daughter-in-law Sharmiila Gruber of Singapore, daughter Paula Gruber of Austin,Texas, sister Jocelyn Waldman of New York City, her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews,the extended families she welcomed through her marriages to Irving and Marvin, and the many friends and fellow volunteers who loved Estelle’s warm and inclusive spirit. A wonderful homemaker who loved entertaining,travel, all things Italian (especially the music of Mario Lanza), and in her later years teaching arts and crafts and making jewelry, she will be so very much missed. A private service was held at Star of David Memorial Gardens in North Lauderdale, Florida. The family requests that any memorial gifts in Estelle’s memory be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Florida, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.
