

Francis J. Kennedy, 83, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Born on January 30, 1942, in Larchmont, New York, Frank lived a life rich with rhythm, intellect, and deep devotion to those he loved.
A self-taught and celebrated jazz drummer, Frank's musical journey was both remarkable and far-reaching, starting in his early teenage years. He recorded with The Bob Grabowski Band and, among his many career highlights, Frank performed with New Blues Edition, Gene The Hat, Jeff Kirk Quartet, Sandy McDonnell, Mario Riccardo, and Cozy Cole, bringing his dynamic talent to the stage across the country. He performed at notable venues in South Florida such as Golden Falcon, Playboy Club, King of Hearts Club, Tobacco Road and Elks Club. In Las Vegas, he played at Sahara, The Sands Hotel & Casino, Tropicana, Flamingo and performed at a private party for Frank Sinatra. These experiences stood as a testament to his artistry and dedication. His music resonated through clubs and cruise ships alike, where audiences were captivated by his passion and precision behind the drums.
Frank's love for learning extended beyond music. A voracious reader with a keen interest in philosophy, science and the arts. He found joy in thoughtful conversation and intellectual exploration. These qualities enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those fortunate enough to share time with him.
Above all else, Frank adored his family. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife Elyse; beloved children Frankie (Vicki) and Rese (Graham); cherished grandchildren Aegean, Kai, and Marley; sister Camille; brother Reginald; niece Gina (Dan); nephew Billy (Yuko); and great uncle to Katelyn and Leanna. His presence was a source of strength and warmth to each of them.
A memorial service honoring Frank's life will be held at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 7701 Bailey Rd., North Lauderdale, Florida 33068. Date to be determined. Call (954) 722-9000 for updates.
