It is with heartfelt sadness today that we announce the passing of Frederick Adolphus Mitchell lovingly known and called Pappy by his family and friends. Frederick was one of the eight children born to Augustus and Mabelynn Mitchell on August 5, 1930, in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies.
In the late 1950's he migrated to England, it was there that he ultimately married the love of his life, Merdell Smith, who he affectionately called Merdee. Their union together produced three children. In 1969, Frederick and Merdell decided to move to the United States to work and make it their home for the next 50 years. He loved his family fiercely and will be truly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was an extremely sociable person, who loved spending time with his family and friends.Frederick had an amazing reputation for helping anyone in need. He was very humorous and a good storyteller. Above all these things he was a man of God, who prayed with conviction for all those he loved and for those he didn't even know.
Frederick was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago. During that time, he had numerous caregivers who he was thankful for and appreciated immensely.
