

Joyce M. Abrams, 90, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Cranston, RI, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2026 at Avow Hospice in Naples. She was the beloved wife of her husband, Burton Abrams, for 71 years.
After her sons were young teens, Joyce attended University of Rhode Island and graduated in the first class of Continuing Education for Women in 1969 and then received her Masters in Education and a Masters in Special Education from Rhode Island College. Joyce spent her 28- year teaching career in the West Warwick school department, first in fourth grade classrooms and then as special education teacher, and culminating her career as special education coordinator for the West Warwick elementary school department. Joyce’s passions were family, boating on Narragansett Bay, the game of Bridge, educating young students with special needs, and gatherings with friends.
Joyce was the wife of Burton Abrams; mother of Kenneth Abrams (wife Kathleen Pointek-Abrams) of North Kingstown, RI and Robert Abrams (wife Joy Abrams) of Highland Beach, FL; grandmother of Dana Abrams-Cohen (husband Stephen Cohen) of Delray Beach, FL and the late Marc Abrams; and great grandmother of Mason Cohen. In recognition of Joyce’s support of people who struggle with mental illness and learning disabilities, donations can be made to National Alliance of Mental Illness (nami.org).
A funeral service will be held at the Star of David Memorial Chapel, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, in the Main Chapel. The service will take place on February 13, 2026, starting at 11:45 am.
Following the funeral service, a committal service will be held at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Garden of Aaron II, also located at 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. The committal service is scheduled to begin at 12:15 pm on February 13, 2026.
