Born Ruth Margot Heuman in Karlsruhe, Germany, Margot escaped the Holocaust on the Kindertransport and went to England for over a year where she lived with Rabbi Chait. In 1940, Margot immigrated to New York where she was sponsored by her aunt Regina Hirsch and her cousin Helen Acker who passed away on February 3, 2013. Margot lived with her husband Leo Schertz in Inwood, NY and later in Forest Hills, NY. Margot and Leo moved to Coconut Creek, FL in 1993 where Leo passed away on November 30, 2010. Margot is survived by her children Elizabeth Schertz Braundsorf and Philip Schertz and her grandchildren, Kandace Clare (K.C.) Bunn, Chelsea Bunn, Amara Schertz and Landon Schertz.
