Mark Leonard Cohen

Mark L. Cohen of Coral Springs, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 17, 2023 at the age of 71. He was born on March 11, 1952 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was the loving son of Benjamin (Barney) and Frances Cohen who both predeceased him.

Mark was diagnosed with leukemia many years ago and handled his medical obstacles with dignity and courage. He battled several cancers and was motivated to pursue treatments in order to stay with his family as long as possible.

Mark received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and went on to pursue a master's degree in accounting from Northeastern University where he met his wife Marsha. He then moved to Fort Lauderdale where he started his career as a CPA. Once experienced, Mark and his wife Marsha, also a CPA, opened their own successful CPA firm in Fort Lauderdale They worked together for over 25 years building the practice and have maintained close friendships with many of their former clients.

Mark was kind, compassionate, selfless and meticulous. He had a friendly personality that attracted people to him. Mark was sincere and had a way of making people feel comfortable. Mark especially loved and bonded with his dogs Homer and Bullet. He had a fondness for orangutans and would have loved traveling to Borneo. He was a lifelong fan of his New England sports teams - the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox.

Mark was a doting son, devoted husband, loving father, wonderful brother, caring brother-in-law, special uncle and loyal friend. He will be dearly missed by all.

Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years Marsha, loving sons Jordan and Ben (Nicole), his adored sister Ruthellen (Joe), his treasured niece Brooke (Lou) and grandnephew Sonny. He had a deep affection for his in-laws Lee Lereah, and her husband Jack who predeceased him. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Michael (Jeanne) and David (Carole) and his dear nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and many friends.

Funeral services for Mark will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 10:30 am at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068 followed by a committal service at 11:00 am.
