A life well lived is not the way you usually begin an obituary, but that is what we have to say about the life of Martin Glazer. He was the husband of Rochelle Toby Rosengarten Glazer for 63.5 years, a true love story that added three children Sharon Lyn Wolman, wife of James D. Wolman of Lancaster Pennsylvania, Dr. Ellen F. Glazer of Margate, Florida and Edward W Glazer of Oakland, California. The family added three grandchildren Marcus Harrison Beto of Pleasantville, New Jersey, Nicholas D. Beto of Pleasantville, New Jersey, and Michael Gus Isaac Wolman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Martin or better known as Marty was born to Mary Rosen Glazer and Morris Glazer on October 31, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Marty had an older sister Vilma Glazer Robinson.
He is also survived by a cousin who is like a brother to him Bernard Roth of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Marty and Shelley Glazer lives were a genuine romantic story usually written in novels. Marty spied Shelley in her homeroom in ninth grade as he was at his locker, they have been inseparable since they were 14 years old. Both growing up in less than idyllic circumstances but creating a bonding of love and family that continued to grow for all these years.
Marty’s life was first and foremost centered around his family, he also had a love of traveling and cooking. You could find him most evenings cooking for the love of his life. He traveled to Israel, Germany, Canada, Cape Cod, Catskills, Poconos, the Keys, California and cruise numerous times to the islands and around the Panama Canal. Since he loved cruising and loved his family, he took his whole family on a cruise to Canada to celebrate his sixtieth wedding anniversary to the love of his life.
His priority in life was education and learning. He set a goal for his three children of a college education and he supported them financially as well as mentally through the college years.
The last conversation he had with his family he was apologizing for leaving them, again always putting family first.
His career started with the Honeywell Corporation in Philadelphia, he eventually was recruited by a headhunter and moved his family to Fairmont, West Virginia. He knew the transition was going to be tough on his family, but he thought that West Virginia offered his family more options and an easier lifestyle.
He worked in West Virginia for 10 years eventually moving the family to Pittsburgh where he engineered and changed a flat glass plant into a float glass plant.
Upon retirement he and the love of his life relocated to Florida and lived on the beach and their daily life consisted of walking four to five miles and speaking to his children and grandchildren on a regular basis and cooking. He enjoyed live theater and traveling. The last trip he and his love took was a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale and up the east coast ending in Canada with a visit to their children and grandchildren in Pennsylvania.
His burial will take place in Star of David officiated by Rabbi Jack P Paskoff and Rabbi David Spey. The burial is scheduled at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 12, 2021.
