Martin Arthur Herman, 82 of Fort Lauderdale, succumbed peacefully on August 17, 2014, after a long illness. He is survived by his long time significant other, Connia Hergert and her family, Joe and Connia Sasso of N.C., two sisters, Carol Helman and Renee Herman both of N.J., two daughters, Denise Rikansrud of S.C., Brodie Gold of N.C., a son, Robert Herman of Fl., and six grandchildren, Kristopher and Andrew Herman, Joey Sasso, Jacob, Hannah and Sarah Gold. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired from teaching from Plantation Middle School in Florida in 1995. He was also a D.J. during the last 25 years. His lifelong passions were dancing and pasta. Other lifetime hobbies included, fishing, racquetball, sculpting, poetry, snow skiing and scuba diving. He was an original member of the N.J. Mermen Scuba Club, as well as a member of the Pompano Beach Elks. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Michael J. The memorial service is being held on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at noon, at the Star of David Cemetery and Funeral Home, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL.
