When I think about our friend, Ned, I can only think of happy times, laughter and sincere friendship.   We met Diane and Ned on a cruise to the Panama Canal about 18 years ago.  We were instantly attracted to them, their personalities and their great spirit.   We have since cruised with them a dozen times and become fast friends, even family.  When sailing with them in December, 2006, knowing that I was a huge Red Sox fan and he was a huge Yankee fan, he made a prediction that the Yankees would win the World Series for the upcoming 2007 season. I disagreed, of course, and told him that the Red Sox would win that series.  Ned’s comment to me was “we should make a bet”.  I told him that a financial bet was not the way to go. and I suggested that if the Yankees won, he would have to purchase a Yankee’s field cap for me, and I would have to wear it any time we were together.   Conversely, if the Red Sox were to win, he would wear a Boston Red Sox field cap whenever we were together.  As it turned out, the RED SOX did win the series, and Ned kept his promise because he was a man of his word, and I totally respected him.  That is just the kind of man Ned was and how he lived his life.   We will miss you dear friend but we will cherish our loving memories of you. Your life was “NICELY DONE”. 

Friends for 60 years, we are heartbroken by the loss of Ned. Great times were had with all the fraternity brothers and their families.  College, weddings, cruises, families and growing old together.  Bill especially remembers the harrowing rides back and forth to St Johns during their college years.
Deepest sympathy  to you Diane and your family.

We will never forget the wonderful times we have shared together for the last twenty years. Especially our last times together, just three weeks ago, in St. Maarten.   We knew you secretly were not feeling well, but you still had a wonderful time. We all did. Lots of fun together, good food, fairly good time in the casino, but most of all, sharing quality time together.   We love you, Nedley, and will never forget you.
