Peter Marino, a charismatic doo-wop singer who traded the stage for Wall Street, becoming a fixture of the New York Stock Exchange before founding his own firm, died on August 5, 2025 after courageously battling cancer for 13 years. He was 86.
As a handsome young singer, he appeared on American Bandstand in the 1950s, crooning harmonies with the era’s rising stars. He left the music business behind in 1958, starting as a ticket runner on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Nicknamed “Magic Marino” for his uncanny instincts, he was regarded as a fearless trader among colleagues with a "get it done" attitude and old-school charm. His sharp mind, relentless work ethic, and magnetic personality propelled him to the top, becoming a partner at Mesirow & Company, then Ira Haupt & Company and Lewco Securities Corporation, before founding his own firm, Marino & Company, which thrived independently for 25 years before merging into SunTrust Bank.
Above all, Peter cherished his family. He was a devoted husband of 45 years to his wife Karen; a loving father to his four children: Stacey, Jennifer, David and Bradley; and a grandfather to his grandchildren: Ryan, Madison Mia, Sarah, Reid, Max, Zachary, and Gracie. His greatest joy was found in the love and laughter they shared together.
Peter was a lifelong New Yorker who embodied the city’s grit and glamour, moving effortlessly—with a smile on his face and a song always at the ready. He lived life on his own terms, a philosophy his family often summed up with his favorite refrain: “I did it my way”
Funeral services will be held August 10, 2025 at Star of David Memorial Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, with a Manhattan memorial planned for September. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to United Cerebral Palsy at UCP.org
Peter Gus Marino will be laid to rest at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in the Garden of Abraham section, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale.
