Florence Heather Pswakai-Azubuike passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at the age of 72. She came from humble beginnings in Zimbabwe, Africa, but due to her courage, strength, intellect and determination, she was able to achieve the American dream and pave the way so that her daughters could do the same. One of ten children, and still a teenager the next stop on her journey was London, England where she pursued a nursing degree. London is also where she married and had two daughters. It was years later in the early eighties, as a then single mother, she decided to take a leap of faith and immigrate to the United States, landing in Arkansas where she eventually made a home in the community of Sherwood. She retired from the Arkansas State Hospital in 2012, after 25 successful years of service as a registered nurse.
She was a very devout and faithful Christian and an active member of the Living Church of God. Her grace, kindness, and self-less love and support were among her greatest gifts to the world she left behind. She was both a role model and inspiration to many. She is survived by her daughter Amanda, a colonel in the U.S. Army, and Fiona, a pediatrician and ER physician.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Funeral service on Friday, November 30, at 1:00 p.m., both at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
