Gerald Dean Marlin passed away at home on June 2, 2023 at the age of 96. He was born in Sidney, Arkansas to the late Owen and Winnie Marlin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Adrian Marlin and Anthel Marlin and son-in-law Steve Simmons.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Cliva Marlin; children, Pam Simmons and Vera Little (James). He is also survived by his grandchildren Tracey, Jennifer (Bo), Natalie (Paul), Ryan (Alex) and Daniel; great grandchildren Emma, Lydia, Miles and Maggie and his many nieces and nephews.
Gerald served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star for heroism. After the war he returned to Arkansas and married the love of his life. They moved to Conway where he attended State Teachers College. After living in several states they made their home in North Little Rock where he worked for the State of Arkansas for over 34 years. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church for over 30 years and a Mason.
He was a loving husband, father and Grandpa to his family who will miss his humor and kindness. His faith in God and his family were the most important things in his life.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Griffinleggettresthills.com.
