

Hampton Louis Simmons, 88, departed this life on February 23, 2023, in North Little Rock, AR. He was born on July 15, 1934, to Hampton Cornelius Simmons and Thelma Simmons in Mitte, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Jackie Simmons Bullion (Percy) and Norma Simmons Feldtman (George).
Hampton, commonly known as Hamp or Louis, graduated from DeRidder High School in 1952 prior to joining the Army. After military service in Europe, he attended McNeese State College and then held many interesting jobs including oil field roughneck, machine operator at PPG, school bus driver, co-owner of both a plant nursery and a hair salon, skin care and boutique clothing business, and Louisiana visitor center host. His true passions were spending time with family, hunting, fishing, watching LSU sports, and enjoying sitting around telling tall tales over a beer with friends.
Louis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Rae Daniels Simmons; his children, Tye Keef (Terry), Daniel Simmons (Jennifer), and Caleb Simmons; his grandchildren, Sean Flynn, Josh Flynn, Chandler Simmons, and Noah Simmons (Reagan); sister- and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Grant; and close family Elizabeth Gugino, Mark Lambert and Jonathan Pearson. There are many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Louis and Bobbie are remembered by many as the owners of The China Doll hair salon, skin care, and boutique on South Ryan Street in Lake Charles, LA for over 35 years. They retired to Merryville, LA, and later moved to Arkansas to be near their children and grandchildren.
