Janice was born on February 14, 1920, on a 160-acre dairy farm in Blair, Wisconsin, to Benone and Lile Foss. She was baptized on March 21, 1920, and confirmed in the Lutheran Church on November 18, 1934.
An unlikely opportunity at that time, Janice received a high school and college education. In 1942, Janice attended the Kohler School of Nursing at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota. She joined the Army Nurse Corps the following year to serve honorably in England during World War Two. She remained in the service until 1947, when she voluntary left service as a First Lieutenant. Shortly thereafter, she met and married James T. Ingram in Riverside, California, where he served in the Army Air Corps.
Janice continued to serve as a nurse in military and Veterans’ Affairs hospitals until her retirement in 1984. Her service would continue as she volunteered with Meals on Wheels until age 85.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Tucker (the late Ronnie) of Shiloh, Illinois, and son, Robert W. Ingram (Dana) of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, step-son, Terry McAdams (Linda) of Thompson, Ohio, and her brother Francis Foss of Pegion Falls, Wisconsin. Five granddaughters, two grandsons-in-law, and seven great-grandchildren love and remember her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, James T. Ingram; her parents, Benone and Lila Foss; and older brothers, Basil and Leonard Foss.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Hope Lutheran Church, 1904 MacArthur Drive, Jacksonville, Arkansas. The viewing is scheduled for 9 to 10 am, with the service immediately following. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
