She is survived by three children, James Dixon Mosley (Pamela), Mary Jo Watkins, and Marge Anna Luttrell (Rex); six grandchildren, Eli Mosley (Jo), Chris Mosley, Joanne DeLong (David), Paul Watkins, Audrey Dillahunty (Bryan) and Amelia Ferguson (Douglas); ten great grandchildren, Everett, Harlow, and Teagan Mosley; Lex, Sy and Bane DeLong; Davis and Halle Dillahunty; Eddie and Fisher Ferguson. Brother Bob Nolen (Deborah) along with nieces and nephews will cherish her memory.
Joanne’s deep faith began early as a Presbyterian minister’s daughter in Prescott and North Little Rock, where she graduated from North Little Rock High. Her strong faith and gentle spirit served her well as the wife of a Presbyterian minister. As husband Jim served churches in Texas and Arkansas, Joanne lovingly nurtured those in their congregations and communities. She was honored by Presbyterian Women for her dedication with an Honorary Life Membership.
As a young bride in Austin, Texas, Joanne earned her Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas, the only female in that department. Her appreciation for math was visible in her management of the family budget. Joanne was a skilled seamstress, sewing her own wedding dress and clothes for her children. Later she opened her own business in Hot Springs, Custom Cover-Ups, specializing in custom draperies. Joanne enjoyed hand-sewing chrismons (ornaments with Christian symbols) for her church, including a set for each of her loved ones. She was rarely seen without her sewing kit while watching a grandchild’s sporting event or riding alongside Jim in the car. She skillfully sewed 1200 children’s school bags for Ferncliff’s DAC. Ferncliff dedicated their sewing center as the JoMo in recognition of Joanne’s generous service. Joanne’s tender heart also extended to wayward cats with a fondness for furry homeless friends; she occasionally nurtured a racoon.
Above all Joanne cherished her family whom she enfolded with acceptance and unconditional love. While her outward beauty was noticeable, to know her was to celebrate her beauty from within. While her presence will be missed, her entry into the Church Triumphant is cause for rejoicing.
Her family extends gratitude to those who loved and cared for her at Presbyterian Village these last two years and to Arkansas Hospice for their support in her final days.
A Celebration of Life service will be held June 14 10:00am at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center, 1720 Ferncliff Road, Little Rock, AR 72223 or Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Dr. Little Rock, AR 72227
