Kevin worked in the Construction business for many years, his father helped him begin his own company “Interior Systems” in 1980. Later, he established his own company “Horton Drywall Inc.” He built many hospitals, malls, and multifamily housing units throughout the US. His most gratifying time was when he was privileged to help build The Bill Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock.
Kevin enjoyed all outdoor sports especially fishing with his friends and co-workers. Kevin loved being a grandfather of 4 grandchildren and being involved in their lives. Kevin will be remembered by so many people he cared about, his joy was being most generous to anyone who needed anything anytime.
God chose Kevin to build the Kiley Stuesse Mission Center in Cusco, Peru. He helped design and fund the Mission Center as well as launch the Life and Work Program. The Mission Center serves as a hub for missions throughout the Cusco region of Peru. The center consists of a house church, provides networking opportunities, lodging for mission teams and volunteers, classrooms for Pastor training, a medical clinic and an orphanage for 60 children that is under construction. The Life and Work program prepares aging-out orphans and other at-risk teenages for jobs in the tourism industry. They live at the Mission Center for 6 months learning biblically based life and job skills. There have been 126 graduates to date from the program.
Kevin received Jesus Christ at a young age as his Savior. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Little Rock.
Kevin was predeceased by his father Gerald F. Horton, Mother Mary Horton and older brother Keith Horton.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindy Horton of Maumelle, daughter Brittany Huffman, son-in-law Brandon Huffman, and grandchildren Mary (21), McKenzie (20), Preston (18), and Hudson (15).
The family wants to thank the Hospice Home Care Team, Lesle, Cynthia and Tanji for their support and giving spirit. Thanks to all of the Doctors and Nurses in the ICU of Baptist Hospital and their care of Kevin in his last days.
