Leon Edward Ouzts, 75, was born in Searcy, AR on October 30, 1948. He was reunited with his wife, Debbie Ouzts, in Heaven on May 17, 2024. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Leon David Ouzts; his mother, Karleen Benton Ouzts; and his brother, Leo Ouzts; and a beloved sister-in-law, Nancy Ouzts. He is survived by his brother, Ronald W. Ouzts. He will be greatly missed by his stepchildren, Leslie and Richard Davis and Joey and Misty Powell, all of Little Rock. He had four grandchildren whom he thought of as his “monkeys,” Benjamin Thomas Davis, Matthew Powell Davis, Kiley Preston Powell, and Ava Elise Merritt. Papa Leon will always hold a special place in their hearts.
After high school, Leon joined the U. S. Navy and served for four years earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal. While he didn’t talk much about his service, he loved his country and the men and women who serve so bravely. Leon continued his civil service as a Postal Carrier for over 30 years. He served the people of Ranch Estates in North Little Rock well.
Funeral services will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Pastor Nathan Davis with Gentiva Hospice will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation, Homeless Veteran Program (https://t2t.org/homeless-veteran-program/) in the hope that Little Rock can one day have a homeless veteran home too.
